Antalya
With a population of about 600 000 people and a vital locations, Antalya is the capital city of Antalya Province and a major attraction for holidaymakers all around the world. Delightfully situated at the innermost point of the Gulf of Antalya on Turkey's southern coast, Antalya has a subtropical climate with very mild wet winters and almost rainless summers. Thanks to its sheltered situation, that is, being surrounded by steep cliffs over the Mediterranean, Antalya is a charming city that for less that three decades transformed into an international resort of enormous importance for Turkish economy, as well as for the thousands of international tourists that visit it every year.
As "the capital of Turkish tourism", as many would call it, Antalya turns out to be a gateway for the Turkish Riviera and many historical sites in the region, such as historical monuments showing traces of Lycian, Pamphylian, Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman architecture and cultures. Antalya’s wonderful beaches, palm-lined boulevards, and abundant accommodations annually attract so many tourists that sometimes at the height of tourist season the population of the city reaches up to 2 million.
