Bodrum
Due to its attractive coastline and extremely active night-life, Bodrum is one of the top Turkish seaside resorts, especially for Europeans, hence humorously referred to as the "Bedroom of Europe”. It can surely be said that several hundred thousand tourists visit Bodrum annually. In ancient times Bodrum was the city of Halikarnassos.
With its vital location, lively port and home to one of the wonders of the ancient world, namely the Mausoleum, Bodrum was an immensely significant settlement yet in ancient times. Nowadays, Bodrum hasn’t at all lost its previous popularity. On the contrary, many would say that modern Bodrum is to Turkey, what Cannes is to France. Lying in a little bay on the southwest coast of Asia Minor opposite the Greek island of Kos, Bodrum is a convenient starting point for excursions to the Greek islands of Rhodes and Kos, as well as to the awesome ancient city ruins of Ephesus and the unique and stunning Pammukale. In addition to its strategic situation, Bodrum’s mild climate, its beautiful beaches and diving grounds once more prove Bodrum’s significance in the sphere of tourism. The coastline of Bodrum is split into two bays by St Peter’s Castle sticking out on a spit of land into the sea. The right side of the bay houses many sailing boats and yachts. It is here that you'll find a selection of trendy bars and restaurants. The Marina Shopping Centre houses many stylish designer boutiques and various restaurants that sit alongside traditional Turkish shops and bazaars. Historic, interesting, and relaxing, Bodrum is definitely worth visiting!
