Marmaris
One of the most attractive and lively seaside resorts in Turkey, Marmaris is situated in a picturesque bay on the southwestern coast of the country, surrounded by green forests, exotic flora and foauna, and beautiful sporadically spread islands in the Mediterranean Sea. Established in 3400 BC, until recently Marmaris has been just a small fishing village. On the contrary, today Marmaris is a cosmopolitan resort with modern hotels, well-kept beaches, multiple restaurants, cafes, night clubs and shops along the main maritime street.
The clear turquoise sea and warm water in the period between May and October make Marmaris a popular site for the summer holiday lovers. In addition, Marmaris is an ideal place for water sports and even Turkey’s major yacht charter, sailing and holiday resort, possessing two major and several smaller marinas. There are regular ferry services to the Greek island of Rhodes and the other surrounding smaller islands. The ancient site of Ephesus and the spring waters of Pamukkale are also popular outings. Also, large cruise ships call at the port. Marmaris' wild nights are centered on Bar Street around the waterfront, packed with nightclubs and bar that rock till morning. Marmaris is probably the most European of the Turkish resort towns on the Mediterranean coast, and a bustling cosmopolitan tourist centre in the summer months.
