Palandoken
Palandoken ski center, located on the northern slopes of the Palandoken Mountain in the Eastern Anatolia Region, is one of Turkey’s top winter destinations. Home to many international ski competitions, Palandoken ski resort is one of Turkey’s best ski destinations, with its excellent snow conditions, facilities and long runs. Palandoken has a sufficient number of suitable skiing slopes for Alpine skiing, ski touring, cross-country and heli-skiing.
Another advantage of Palandoken is the fact that it is situated within just 5 km distance from the Turkish town of Erzurum, meaning just 10 minutes driving by car. In addition, the nearest airport to Palandoken is just 20 minutes away. Also, if you can’t find a room at Palandoken, the town of Erzurum has many more accommodation options as well as lively bars and restaurants. What is more, the town is an interesting historical site with its Seljuk buildings and 12th-century Ulu Mosque. The duration of the skiing season in Palandoken is 150 days a year. The altitude of the skiing area of Palandoken is 2200- 3176 m and the best skiing conditions are between 10 December and 10 May. The average snowfall in the ski resort is 2-3 m in normal winter conditions. Palandoken Ski Center is equipped with 3 chairlifts, 1 T bar and a 3 km tele-cabin. Qualified skiing instructors and equipment are available for hire. The center has first aid facilities and a rural clinic. The slopes and mechanical equipment are under constant observation of experts.
